Why does website pricing vary so much between Hyderabad agencies?
Three things drive the spread: who's actually doing the work, what platform they're building on, and what happens after launch.
A college student running a freelance gig out of Ameerpet will quote ₹6,000–₹10,000 for a WordPress site using a free theme, some stock images, and zero testing across browsers. A mid-size agency in Banjara Hills or Jubilee Hills will quote ₹60,000–₹1,50,000 for largely the same WordPress build, but with custom design, proper copywriting, and a project manager between you and the developer. Neither is wrong. You're paying for different things.
Then there's platform. WordPress sites are cheaper to build because the CMS already exists — you're paying for theme customization and setup, not software. Custom-coded sites (what we build at HyderHub, in plain PHP and MySQL rather than a CMS) cost more upfront because every page, form, and admin feature is written from scratch. The upside: no plugin conflicts, no surprise WordPress core updates breaking your layout six months later, and a much smaller attack surface for hackers. The downside: if you want a new feature next year, you're paying a developer, not installing a plugin.
What does a website actually cost in Hyderabad by type?
| Website Type | Typical Cost (2026) | What's Usually Included |
|---|---|---|
| Single-page / landing page | ₹5,000 – ₹15,000 | One scrolling page, contact form, basic SEO tags, mobile-responsive |
| Basic business site (5-7 pages) | ₹15,000 – ₹40,000 | Home, About, Services, Gallery, Contact, WhatsApp click-to-chat, Google Maps embed |
| Mid-range custom site | ₹40,000 – ₹90,000 | Custom design (not a template), blog/CMS panel, lead capture forms, on-page SEO setup |
| E-commerce / booking site | ₹80,000 – ₹2,00,000 | Product catalog, payment gateway (Razorpay/PayU), order management, admin dashboard |
| Fully custom web app | ₹1,50,000 – ₹5,00,000+ | Custom database schema, user login systems, multi-role admin panels, API integrations |
These numbers are for Hyderabad specifically — Bangalore and Mumbai agencies routinely charge 40-60% more for near-identical scope, mostly because of office rent and client volume, not skill.
Where the quote usually breaks down further
Design and development is only part of the invoice. Domain registration runs ₹700–₹1,200 a year for a .com or .in. Shared hosting — what we use for most client sites on Hostinger — costs ₹2,000–₹5,000 a year for the traffic levels a small Hyderabad business actually gets. SSL certificates are free now (Let's Encrypt), so anyone still charging you separately for "security certificate installation" is padding the bill.
What makes a website cost more than the base price?
Custom photography instead of stock images adds ₹5,000-₹15,000 depending on how many shoots and locations. Copywriting — someone actually writing your service pages instead of you sending a WhatsApp voice note that gets transcribed — adds ₹3,000-₹10,000. Multi-language support (English + Telugu, which a lot of Hyderabad clinics and local service businesses ask for) adds development time on every single page, not just a translation fee.
The biggest hidden cost, though, is revisions. Most quotes include 2-3 rounds of design revisions. Past that, agencies start billing hourly, usually ₹500-₹1,500/hour depending on seniority. If you're the kind of client who wants to see six homepage variations before picking one, budget for that upfront rather than being surprised by a revision invoice in week four.
The cheapest website and the most expensive website can both fail — the real question isn't the price tag, it's whether the site is built to actually get you customers or just built to exist.
Is WordPress cheaper than a custom-built website?
Upfront, yes, almost always. A WordPress site with a premium theme (₹2,000-₹5,000 for the theme license) and a week of customization work can be live for ₹20,000-₹35,000. A custom-coded equivalent from scratch takes longer to build because there's no theme doing the heavy lifting, so it typically starts ₹15,000-₹20,000 higher for the same visual result.
Where that flips is maintenance. WordPress needs plugin updates, theme updates, and core updates on a rolling basis — skip them for a year and you're one outdated plugin away from a hacked site serving spam links to Google. We've inherited more than a few WordPress sites from other Hyderabad agencies where the client hadn't logged in for 18 months and the whole thing needed a rebuild. A custom PHP/MySQL site has far fewer moving parts to patch, so the 3-5 year total cost of ownership often comes out close to even, sometimes cheaper on the custom side.

What should a Hyderabad small business actually budget for a first website?
- Set a realistic range before you start asking for quotes — ₹25,000-₹50,000 covers a genuinely good business site for most local services, salons, clinics, and retail shops.
- Decide if you need a CMS you can edit yourself, or if you're fine calling the developer for text changes — this alone can shift the quote by ₹10,000-₹15,000.
- Ask what happens after month one. Does the quote include a year of hosting? What's the charge to fix something if it breaks?
- Get 3 quotes minimum, but ask each one the exact same question: "what's NOT included in this price?" The answer tells you more than the number itself.
- Budget separately for content — someone has to write the words and choose the photos, and that's rarely bundled into a "website design" quote even when it should be.
- Add 15-20% buffer for scope creep. Almost every client adds a feature mid-project — a gallery page, a WhatsApp button, an extra service category.
Do I need to pay for website maintenance every year?
Technically, no — a static site can sit untouched for years and keep working, assuming the hosting bill gets paid. Practically, most businesses end up wanting small changes: a new offer, an updated price list, a festival banner. Without a maintenance arrangement, each of those becomes a one-off ₹1,000-₹3,000 charge, which adds up faster than a flat annual fee would.
We structure ours as an optional annual plan — usually ₹8,000-₹15,000/year depending on how many update requests are included — rather than bundling it into every project whether the client wants it or not. Some businesses genuinely don't need it. A single-location shop with a site that just needs to exist for Google Maps credibility isn't going to touch their homepage five times a year.
Should I choose the cheapest quote or the most expensive one?
Neither, usually. The rock-bottom quotes (under ₹10,000 for a full business site) tend to come from someone reselling a template they didn't build and can't meaningfully customize — fine if you genuinely just need a digital business card, risky if you're relying on the site for leads. The top-end quotes from bigger Hyderabad agencies often bake in account management overhead you don't need if you're a 3-person business, not a 300-person one.
The middle of the market — where most competent small agencies and serious freelancers sit, roughly ₹25,000-₹80,000 for a proper business site — is where the price actually tracks the value most consistently. Below that band you're gambling on quality; above it you're often paying for the agency's office in Hitec City more than your own website.
If you're weighing quotes right now and want a second opinion on what a fair price looks like for your specific project, our website design page breaks down what's included at each tier, and we work with businesses across Somajiguda and the wider Hyderabad area on everything from single-page sites to full booking platforms — including ongoing maintenance plans for the businesses that'd rather not think about their site once it's live.
